I feel I belong elsewhere

I have the travel bug. Have had it ever since I was a kid, and moved to Australia. I've been so many places, seen so many things, and yet can't wait to get out of here and keep going.
Jacinta hasn't helped my cause, and looking at her blog makes me day dream of different times and far away lands. If only I could take such amazing photos, I'd be on a plane tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to it

Today the sun is out. Spring is in the air, and it's making me restless. Before work, I stood in the sun for 10 minutes, waiting for my coffee, soaking up the vitamin D. At lunch today I might go down to the river, and sit there and draw. I'm looking forward to the next stage of life. The part where I have time, where I have sun during the day, where I have my notebook and some pencils in my bag or hand at all times. Where I cut paper, and paint and create a mess on the front porch through my creativity. A time when I have no money, so stay at home and be creative. I think I'd rather have no money and enjoy the small things in life, than have so much, and be so busy that I miss out on all the good and perfect moments.

Yes I'm looking forward to this time.

The importance of a good mascot

A good mascot is a must for any little budding business, and newly married couple...
Sooo, meet Frankie.

Little neck cuddler

We found him here when he was 3 weeks old, and fell in love straight away. We also named him straight away, and I paid for him as soon as I got home to make sure he would be mine forever. We had to wait patiently for quite some time for him to be old enough to leave his mumma. The breeder was so sweet and nice, and she sent me photos of him while we were waiting, and kept giving me updates. I've been so impressed how happy and friendly Frankie is and it's all thanks to her. He loves cuddles and sat on my shoulders cuddling for ages today. He's settled right in already, and seems to be very happy! He's even using his litter box already, at only 8 weeks. So advanced.

Right now he is dashing around the living room floor, exploring, sniffing and jumping around. Sometimes he gets really excited and just jumps high in the air, and runs really fast and then stops. It's cute when he does this because his ears jump with him, but are a bit delayed in returning to their cute little lop position. That, and he is so fluffy (his fluff is twice the size of him... he's a little thing under all that fluff) and his fluff flows behind him in the wind as he races around.

Redheads are taking over

Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I was just so excited about my wearables, I thought they looked good as the first post on the blog, so I admit, I left it for a while.

But this is pretty exciting too...My cute little niece is turning 1! YAY!

So I did some invites for her as a present, and here they are...

Yep, all 70 of them! (Check out the stacks in the picture below) Home printed, hand cut and folded with a staple in the middle. Just like the original match-boxes. It was a bit of a process, and my poor little home printer is cooling off now, but it was so much fun.

The theme of the party is come as your favourite red-head. At first I wasn't sure, but WOW there are so many famous red-heads. This website lists a few if you are interested.

I'm not sure what I'll go as. At first I thought Pippy Long Stockings (my mum called me that when I had long curly piggy tails), but that's not very original, so I'll re-think! My sister-in-law said Lily (my niece) will be going as Pebbles from the Flinstones. SO CUTE! Yep the red heads are taking over.

Apologises about the photo quality. My house is a bit dark these days, being winter and all.

Goods Received...

Yep, I received a few goods last night, and then proceeded to stay up way to late piecing them together. It's my first go at this laser cutting wearables things, and it was such a success that I will keep going with it! Just watch this space, cos there is heaps more to come.

As promised, I'll show you a few, but some aren't ready just yet, so hold you breath - I promise they'll be amazing. For now...

Creative Spaces

I’m a little obsessed with workspaces, and it’s probably my interest in interior design that brings it out in me. I did after all study it for a year – graphic design was more my thing in the end though. See, I’m fascinated by the environments people create to work in, the objects they choose to surround themselves with, the mess, or organisation of their work space, the colours, some even like toys, or books, or flowers, and how this affects their productivity and creativity.

I think the best workplaces are teaming with life, either through the use of colour, or mystery. The kind of workspaces that create intrigue – they make you want to explore, open a draw or a cupboard and see what’s in there. Workspaces that are filled with light are my favourite. Yes light and air are must haves, and a really great view too. I think that work spaces, especially creative ones, need to reflect the workers personality and likes and dislikes in order for the most productivity to occur.  For instance, I find if I surround myself with white, it creates a good blank canvas, so that colour ontop of it can really stand out and make a big difference.

I have a constant vision in my head of my ultimate workspace, which is always changing and always evolving. Workspaces are so fabulous for so many reasons and I think everyone should have one, even if you aren’t a creative. The best thing about workspace is that it’s something that can develop and evolve over time. It can be big or tiny and you slowly collect things, and build up a great little space full of wonderful super-duper stuff that makes you happy. See that’s what a workspace is. Somewhere that you can sit down, with all your beautiful precious things, and write or draw or create. Somewhere that you can read, or check Facebook, or blog or email. Somewhere that makes you really happy and inspired.

So when I found Paul Barbera’s little side project Where They Create, I got really excited. See Paul is an interior photographer, and while travelling on assignments, he looks up artists and creatives in the area he’s heading too, and takes photos of their workspaces, much to my sticky-nosing delight.
